"Lake Arthur Camp Meeting" calls to mind lifelong memories for many people. The interdenominational association has a long and important history of proclaiming God's word in Southwest Louisiana at its picturesque grounds.

Tabernacle, About 1900

The annual Lake Arthur Camp Meeting, a 111+ year-old gathering, is held for nine days each summer on the grounds of the Association in Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Adding to the facilities belonging to the group are cabins owned by individual members.

In addition to the annual camp, many denominational and individual groups rent the facilities for meetings. It is a family oriented place.

Workday

Work day April 21, 2007 was a success. Thanks to everyone who helped from the grandparents who gave encouragement and babysat so that others could work to the small kids who just made everybody happy with their bright smiles. As I took a break to walk around to take pictures I overheard Brent Sawyer saying that he walked into the dining hall early Saturday morning for coffee and doughnuts but none were to be found. Jim Wisenbaker replied “That‘s us now, Brent That’s our job”. So a very special Thank You to Ann Ferguson who went and got lunch for the workers. And Thank You to the people who have in the past taken the time to feed the workers. The torch has been passed. Some jobs that were tackled are: Sidewalks were pressure washed, the big wharf was mended, cabin areas were cleaned up and the teenagers were especially helpful driving pickup trucks to clean up the waterfront area.

The next work day is May 19th. Dormitories and motel units still need to be cleaned for the summer. Check the Building Adoption on this web site for a list of who is in charge of what building.

Thanks everyone,
Kim Bailey
